On My Wishlist #1

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted here at Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It's also an event that you can join in with too - Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own 'On My Wishlist' post. I hope you will join in! If you want to know more click here.

Book Title: Wake
Author: Lisa McMann
Published: March 4th 2008

Summery (Good Reads):
Ever since she was eight years old, high school student Janie Hannagan has been uncontrollably drawn into other people's dreams, but it is not until she befriends an elderly nursing home patient and becomes involved with an enigmatic fellow-student that she discovers her true power.

Book Title: Shiver
Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Published: August 1st, 2009

Summery (Good Reads):
For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human ... until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human--or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

I have a ton more, but these are the two I really really want right now.

What's on your wishlist?

Am I the only one who reads?!

The other day I attended a workshop for a new school I'm enrolling in; University of Phoenix. We had to fill out this survey type of paper for our first assignment called "Confessions of a College Student" and one of the questions was what is your favorite book.

I was in a room of about 12 people, 4 of them (including myself) were female and almost everyone had said at least once out loud "I don't read, I don't have a favorite book". It made me feel like I was the only person in the room who didn't even know where to begin their list of favorite books. Even my husband wrote on his paper "I don't read". Which he doesn't, it makes you realize how many people don't take the time to read a book for fun.

Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't imagine a life where I didn't read books!

I mean, I know it's a persons own preference if they read books for pleasure or not, but doesn't it just make you wonder why they don't?

Update!

I finally gave in and started reading Lovely Bones. I decided not to last year before everyone talked about how creepy and disturbing it was. I ended up reading the first four chapters at Borders last week.

So when I got home, I decided to finish the book. So far, its pretty good!

I'm also still trying to get through Sweep: Strife.

I havent had much time to read lately, but I'm trying to squeeze in some reading time whenever I can! Sorry about the MIA-ness!

Sweep: Changeling

This books intensity level wasnt as high as all the others, but at the same time it was.

Trying to recover from the events that happened in New York, finding a piece of her life that she hates but is curious about (and feels guilty about this curiosity), the things going on between her and Hunter, her grades slipping, trying to save Starlocket, accepting a mission from the council and a very dangerous mission at that... Morgan has a lot on her plate. On the upside, her friendship with Bree is slowly starting to come back together.

The thing that irritated me the most in the this book was people blaming her for her brother's actions, like she controls him. The council asked her to get him there and yet council members are acting like Morgan wanted him there herself! It was just ridiculous.

Morgan learns more about herself, she has questions answered about her mother, she finds out more about being Woodbane and she finds more secrets that Cal had. Cal and his secrets, they're never ending! She discovers just how powerful she can be and she has the decision to choose good or bad. A decision she feels she'll fear she'll fail because of who she is and what she is.

For once in the series, this book didnt give you an unexpected ending. Which was actually nice. Too many unexpected endings in a row can be tiring lol.

Random Question...

Have you ever read a book/series and it got so good and intense that you kinda wanted to stop reading it mid-book or mid-series cause you didnt want to know what happens but then you did at the same time? I hope that made sense lol!

I kinda feel that way now with Sweep. It's getting so intense and Morgan is putting herself in so much danger its like, you wanna know what happens but you dont. You know nothing bad will happen since there's a few more books left in the series, but its just.... ahh! You know?
